Children & Youth

  • Nursery (ages 0-3)

In our Nursery, children have their first introduction to their church home. Here they learn what Jesus taught the children: God loves you!

The nursery is located in one of our downstairs classrooms, off the large activity room. It includes a variety of toys and activities for babies and toddlers. Families may use the nursery during worship services on Sunday mornings from 9am until 11:30am. Children must be supervised by a parent in the nursery.

  • Sunday School (Preschool-8th Grade)

    LINK TO SUNDAY SCHOOL CALENDAR

Church of the Good Shepherd has an active Sunday School program for children in preschool through eighth grade. Children are divided into classes by age and meet in our downstairs classrooms on Sunday mornings at 9:30am during the school year. They hear Bible stories, learn prayers and songs, share a snack, and do crafts or other activities. Older children also learn about church history, Episcopal traditions, and how to use the Bible and Prayer Book. The children then join the church service upstairs after the Peace.

Journey to Adulthood & Confirmation for Youth

Good Shepherd’s youth program provides education and fellowship for students in grades 8 through 12. This spiritual formation program for young people celebrates their individuality and creative potential. It instructs them in skills needed for successful adult participation in the church and society. In the process, the youth build a community of friends and find their ministry niche through fellowship and service.

Confirmation classes focus on the 5 Marks of Love: Tell, Teach, Tend, Transform and Treasure.

The youth meet on Sunday evenings from 6-7:15pm.

    Harless Scholarship Information

Esther Harless, a parishioner of the Church of the Good Shepherd for about twelve years, died in 1987 and left her estate to the church. As a result of her gift, a committee was established to disburse the funds to the needs and wishes of the parish. A scholarship fund for youth was designated as one of these needs by the “Harless Committee”, an amount to be invested and the income given to active youth of the parish. The deadline is May 15th..
