In 1999, we were proud to represent Jewish New Hampshire at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, held on the National Mall in Washington DC. Klezmer music is the music of Eastern European Jews. The Yiddish word “klezmer” can refer to the musicians or to the style of music, which goes back 400-500 years or so. Like all styles of popular music, it is constantly evolving, and over the years has been influenced by the language and culture of the areas in which Jews have lived, including the United States.
