Have you ever admired the beautiful embroideries on our church vestments and altar frontals, and wondered how they were made? Then this class is for you! This afternoon workshop will cover the basics of goldwork embroidery, which has been used to decorate ecclesiastical textiles for centuries. With Emily's patient and expert instruction, we'll work on embroidering the CGS cross using kits she provides. In addition to embroidery techniques, we’ll also talk a bit about the history, use, and meaning of church embroideries. The kit included with the class provides the threads, fabric, and design to create your own goldwork embroidered cross, similar to the ones found in our sanctuary. There will be a limit of 10 kits, which cost $20. Please bring your own sewing scissors if possible. This class is geared towards beginners, and no prior embroidery experience is necessary to stitch this design. Just 2 slots left! Sign up today
