Advent Study

  • Church of the Good Shepherd 214 Main Street Nashua, NH 03060 United States (map)

On Wednesdays in Advent, Nov. 30, Dec 7, 14 & 21, Pastor Kathy will be leading a study based on Amy-Jill Levine's book "Light of the World: A Beginners Guide to   Advent." We will meet at 6:45pm following our regular 6pm Wednesday Evening  Eucharist which we encourage all to attend. "In Light of the World: A Beginner’s Guide to Advent, author, professor, and biblical scholar Amy-Jill Levine explores the biblical texts surrounding the story of the birth of Jesus. Join her as she traces the Christmas narrative through the stories of Zechariah and Elizabeth, Mary, the journey to Bethlehem, and the visit from the Magi. These stories open conversations around connections of the Gospel stories to the Old Testament, the role of women in first-century Jewish culture, the importance of Mary’s visitation and the revolutionary implications of Mary’s Magnificat, the census and the stable, and the star of Bethlehem and the flight to Egypt.

Books are $10. If you would like to be a part of Advent Study, please sign up HERELet us know if you would like us to order your book for you, or if you plan to order it on your own.
